“What agreement can exist between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be My people.” Therefore come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.” 2 Corinthians 6:16-17
If you believe that what Paul spoke of here, in the Spirit, was an admonition not to associate with the wrong kind of people, think again. Christ himself associated with no one but “bad” people. This was a large part of the criticism He faced from so called “holy” people in the religious establishment.
“Touch no unclean thing,” Paul channels Abba as saying. What are such unclean things? For one, according to Paul, they are idols. Are idols mere stone and wood sculptures erected as symbols of God? Do we really think God, who created all matter and called it all good, is threatened by a figurative material depiction of Himself?
The Spirit would take us deeper, to the true meaning of these and all concepts. The most pernicious idols, the unclean things, are our own false perceptions of ourselves and others, including our illusions of God Himself. We have taken phenomena we perceive as people and made them sinful and evil, unworthy of union and love. We have taken a wholly loving Father and made Him remote, petty, unloving and judgmental. This is sacrilege.
We have erected self definitions of condemnation, of falling short, of dying matter encasing burdened minds, and made SELVES out of them. We have pretended these self constructions are the sons of men. We have “self-identified” as dying bodies with private minds. This is the race of men and women we have constructed in place of the Holy Sons of A Loving Father.
Going forward we no longer “know anyone according to the flesh.” We are greater than atoms, than energy, and matter. We are unbound by time, and the vagaries of entropy. We are not the stream of thoughts we witness running through our awareness. These are all but idols of our true Selves, and mere caricatures of the eternal Holy Sons of God we are. “Touch no unclean thing” such as the false concepts of limited selves.
Instead, “Be separate.” Do not perceive yourself as a dying body. There is enough energy in a teaspoon of empty space to power a trillion universes. Do not identity yourself with human thoughts, the troubled artifacts of a mind that went to sleep and had a dream. Be separate from such things.
God will receive you. He has received you. It is you who have created the false images you have so mournfully worshipped. This is the meaning of Christ: you are Abba’s eternal Son in whom He is very well pleased. You have already stood atop the Mount of Transfiguration.
He is “dwelling among you, walking in your midst.” Do you believe the Spirit speaks of God outside your Being, walking around? Hear then again:
“WE ARE THE TEMPLE OF THE LIVING GOD.” It is here within you, as you, the Most High God dwells in infinite light. Cease then making an idol of yourself, your brother, and your Father. Accept the true union of Being, and “come out from among all other lessers concepts of Self and God.”
