From Julie Winters:

“God does not need  to be told  he is Holy or Worthy.  People cringe when I say this on the account it seems blasphemous and definitely anti-worship.

But think about it?  If you have to tell someone  over and over again they are holy and worthy it often means that the person you are telling has such low self-esteem and needs to be reminded continually of their worth.  The mere concept of telling God his worth and holiness is a demonstration of us still being in a separation mentality.  It also carries with it the Greek mythology concepts of a ‘Zeus wrathful God’ which demands his servants to worship him to receive any blessings.  How many times in church have you heard, and I have even said,  “God inhabits the praise of his people”, which implies if you don’t praise and worship God then he cannot come and ‘inhabit’ in a church service or even ‘inhabit’ you unless you are praising.  My goodness that’s such a narcissistic God we created for ourselves.

When we awaken to realise that we are one with Him then the concepts of Praise and Worship begin to shift also.  Worship is not what is required by God.  Man required that.   Man had to have some kind of God to worship. Worship became a work of man.  You can see this throughout cultures because of all the different deities.  Why? Because man did not know who he was in God.  Man had an inept need to sacrifice something, praise something, because in his separation mentality he kept wanting to feel connected to his God.   So man continued for thousands of years to attempt to feel union with God by the homage he paid to his God.  However, apparently one time worship didn’t accomplish this for man, so man continued to grovel at the feet of a supreme being or idol which they thought required more sacrifices, more holies, more worthies, more, more, more because apparently the God we had created just couldn’t ever get enough. When in reality it was man’s thinking of  being separate from God which drove him to perform atrocities in worship.  You think I’m talking about back then dont you but I’m talking about both; atrocities of the old in worship services BC, and atrocities of the new AD.

If our origin is not Adam then our worship cannot be originated from Adam either.  We have put our origin of worship beginnings from Adam which did nothing but kept  us in a separated way of worship.  Adamic worship I define as when you worship God as a means to connect with God, you worship to get blessing, favour and to remind God of something he has forgotten such as holy and worthy.  What does worship look like from a thinking of union with him.  Will I be struck down if I never say holy or worthy again.  Who is holy and worthy? Who needs to be reminded of that? Us or God?   He doesnt love me more whether I worship or not. Union doesn’t even consider it because we are him and he is us.  I find myself more and more just being grateful and thankful and just being …as a form of worship …..if worship as man perceives it is even necessary at all….because Love just triumphs it all.  It’s not what we say as worship or what we sing as worship…it’s who we believe we are…no longer separated.”

We too have often been cognizant of worship services being similar to a ‘Zeus Temple’ frenzy.  Some have been more of a hyper-mosh pit, or a mournful wake. But I would like to note that music can be used to focus a person on the realities of the spirit and help exclude the distractions around them. By concentrating on the power, authority and love of our spirit we can achieve much, such as healing, and increasing in knowledge and wisdom. Not so much calling down the spirit into our presence, but raising up our awareness of the spirit within us.  Additionally, I would like to state that true worship and sacrifice is to do the will of the Father: To love our neighbour as yourself, as Jesus loved the church. To realise – “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, Because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.” (Isaiah 61:1-3)

Out of our union, God in us, our oneness, we express worship.  It is a lifestyle not to be acquired by self achievement or reaching up to God who is far off, but by the oneness in us.  Goodness and power and Love flows out of us.  Therefore, we express this through speaking psalms to one another; burst out in spontaneous celebration songs and spirit inspired resonance. “In your heart do not let the music stop”, as Francois du Toit mentions in Ephesians 5:19 (Mirror Bible), “Through Dance, Art, Creativity, Music, looking after the poor, support, helping the weak, Loving people is a passionate and joyful way of life and in this, worship is expressed.”  Or Zephaniah 3:17: “He rejoices over you with singing”.  Paraphrased based on Strongs: He displays joy in your inner part, in your seat of thought and emotion with proclamation, joy and praise.  We can even love ourselves; God in us.
