So in summary we can say that the Palm symbolizes:

  1.  The Place of ENTRY

DOORS (signs on doors – Men/Ladies)

The way to the PROMISES – Jericho (And the south, and the plain of the valley of Jericho, the city of palm trees, unto Zoar. (Deuteronomy 34:3 AV))

 2.    SIGN of a place of: Safety, Provision, Shelter, Healing, Rest.

3.     WORSHIP

(Leviticus 23:39-40)  Also on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you have gathered in the fruit of the land, you shall keep the feast of the Lord for seven days; on the first day there shall be a sabbath-rest, and on the eighth day a sabbath-rest. And you shall take for yourselves on the first day the fruit of beautiful trees, branches of palm trees, the boughs of leafy trees, and willows of the brook; and you shall rejoice before the Lord your God for seven days.

(Rev 7:9-10)  After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, saying, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”

Therefore, the palm is a sign from God:

  • To Come near – He waves to us from afar, even whilst we are perishing in the deserts of our Sin
  • Offering rest – all we need
  • Bids us come into His presence – Doors to holiness, reconciliation and relationship.
  • Gives us a Hi-5 of victory over all of our enemies!

So where do we find the sign today to enter into God’s presence?  John 10:7-9.  “Then Jesus said to them again, “Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who ever came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them.  I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.”  Jesus is the door that leads to safety and provision and everything else you will need for eternity.  Jesus is the only door.  This is why He was reverenced with palm branches on Palm Sunday.  This is not an exclusivity doctrine of the church, but the all inclusive way provided by God.

(Psalms 92:12-14 NKJV)  So, does this scripture relate to you?

12  The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. 13  Those who are planted in the house of the LORD Shall flourish in the courts of our God. 14  They shall still bear fruit in old age; They shall be fresh and flourishing

If you haven’t done so already, accept His generous invitation to come through the open door and into the knowing of His presence now.
