Teacher
A teacher is a teacher is a teacher is a ……….of course, of course! But it is imperative that the teacher teaches truth, and teaches understanding, and is empowered to teach. We have all heard the saying, “those who can do, and those who can’t teach”, but it is also true that those that teach well are gifted to teach well, and that not all who ‘can’, can teach. Thus, the ministry of teacher must be filled with one who is gifted to teach, well versed in the scriptures, with other subjects, and with life. It is not the role of the teacher to evangelize (though this at times may be a by-product), but to help strengthen believers in the knowledge and understanding of their belief that they may “always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you” (1 Peter 3:15).
Such subjects may include creation apologetics, Judaic lore, New Age concepts and other religions. A teacher must not teach that which is contrary to scripture, a prophet or apostle of which he is associated. The ministry of teacher is not to be confused with those who may teach in a local setting, but is one who is also responsible for a larger region and may be required to teach teachers.
