Apostle
According to the evangelical dictionary, an apostle (Gk. apostolos) is an envoy, ambassador, or messenger commissioned to carry out the instructions of the commissioning agent. In this commissioning, the apostle will set up areas where teams, according to their giftings, can be established to encourage, motivate and equip people to become cohesive units, teaching them the truth of the good news. The commissioning agent is Christ himself according to Eph 4:11. A good example of an apostle is a CEO of a company who establishes new branches. Having identified people gifted to fulfill particular roles, he then delegates and equips the people under him in their area of work, so the company will grow into a secure and established cohesion. The apostle may then seek another new region, but will always maintain an overwatch on the existing established groups which will be acting autonomously.
